God wants men and women who are involved in homosexuality or experience same-sex attractions to be part of His family, to be members of His kingdom.
John the Apostle wrote "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." (John 1:14) Those few words capture the power, majesty, love and grace of Almighty God. The Great Creator became a human to reveal God to us, to experience the deceitful draw of temptation as we do and to do all that is required for us to be given the opportunity to find faith and become part of God's family.
What does this mean for men and women who are involved in homosexuality or who experience same-sex attractions?
God has taken the initiative to reach you. He has taken the initiative to come to you so that you can find faith and become part of His family.
God does not expect you to clean up your life before He will meet you at your point of need. Jesus illustrated this beautifully in His parable of the prodigal son. After the prodigal son had wasted his inheritance, he returns to his father. The only time in Scripture when God is pictured in a hurry is in Luke 15:20. The father, who represents God, runs to the son when he sees his son coming home! Genesis also records that after Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden and while they hid from God, God searched for them. Genesis 3:9 reads "But the LORD God called to the man, 'Where are you?'" God does not wait for you to clean up your life.
God does not overlook our faults or our struggles with sexuality; rather He looks through them, knowing that our deepest need is for a vital relationship with Him. He also knows that "apart from Him we can do nothing." When the Holy Spirit begins to take residence in a your life, just as with any other person's life, He transforms and empowers you to live in agreement with His Word.
We love the life-giving message of the power of Christ to change and transform!
